The CITU respectfully remembers Ambedkar on his 129th birth anniversary.

On the 129th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution, a fighter who struggled constantly against social oppression and a voice for workers' rights, the CITU remembers him with respect.

This year we mark Ambedkar's birthday while the country is under lockdown because of Covid-19.

Those hit hardest by the lockdown are migrant workers, most of whom are Dalits, Adivasis and the socially oppressed. Many of them do sanitation work and sweeping, and they have not even been given the protective equipment they need to avoid catching the disease.

That is why the CITU decided to raise the following demands on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti:

Provide the necessary protective equipment to all workers engaged in sanitation work.

Provide the food, money and other essentials needed to survive to everyone suffering because of the lockdown.

Protect the Constitution.

Protect democratic rights.

Resist every attack on freedom and life.

Preserve social unity even while keeping physical distance.
