China, with 143 crore people, has had 4,634 corona deaths, and that while facing a virus that had never been identified before. Yet China, apparently, is a failure.

Germany, with 8.4 crore people (one seventeenth of China), had time to learn from China's experience. Yet deaths there are nearly double China's: 8,844. But Germany, apparently, is a huge success. How is that?

A trend of the last few weeks has been articles in pro-capitalist media naming some rich capitalist countries with very low population density, led by women leaders, and claiming that these countries are huge successes in fighting the coronavirus.

One article that some people are sharing furiously says the countries including Germany adopted "the best, most efficient, compassionate and effective responses" to the crisis. Wonderful.

It was under German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is supposedly so "compassionate", that Germany led the way in imposing brutal austerity policies (spending cuts, privatisation, pension cuts and so on) on Greece and ruining that country. Even so, do you know the death toll in Greece? 183. But Germany is a huge success, apparently.

When there is a widespread demand that the European Central Bank help generously the people of many European countries in distress, Germany is the country leading the efforts to oppose and defeat it. But Angela Merkel is apparently tremendously compassionate.

In Cuba, which has struggled for decades to buy essential goods it cannot produce itself because of the US embargo, the death toll is 83. Cuba sent 1,800 health workers to 24 countries in Europe, Africa and Latin America to fight corona. Does Cuba have efficiency or compassion, then? Of course not!

In Venezuela, which the US is trying to destroy through embargo, proxy war and open coup attempts, the death toll is 23. So are Venezuela's prevention measures effective? No, silence please. Don't you know that we right-wing media have been trying for years to establish that Venezuela is a failure?
