Observe CITU Foundation Day
May 30 is CITU Foundation Day, and this is also the CITU's golden jubilee year. The CITU state secretariat appeals to workers in the state to observe Foundation Day fittingly.
Since its formation in 1970, the CITU has played a leading role in uniting the Indian working class
and organising struggles against the anti-worker policies of the state. The CITU inspired workers in the struggles against the Emergency of 1975, and played a major role in the railway strike of 1974.
After the Narasimha Rao government imposed the policy of globalisation in 1991, the CITU led the organisation of national agitations and national strikes against it. The CITU has also led the struggles against the Narendra Modi government's destruction of labour laws.
Under cover of the corona pandemic, BJP state governments are making laws suspending labour laws. This measure pushes workers back to the colonial era. We face a situation in which we must be ready for a big national agitation against this policy. In this situation, we appeal to everyone to observe CITU Foundation Day fittingly by raising the flag at offices and public places.
