The policy address has become a mere reading of an eulogy, with no policy: Com. Elamaram Kareem MP
The President's policy address has become a mere reading of an eulogy, with no policy or position, said CITU state general secretary and CPI(M) leader in the Rajya Sabha Com. Elamaram Kareem MP. The address failed to portray the real picture of the people of the country, who are suffering because of the Covid pandemic and rising prices. The central government, which has not planned a single scheme to relieve the hardships of ordinary people, is trying to loot the people and fill the pockets of corporates. The greatest irony is that even in this situation the President was compelled to make a speech praising the government. The Modi government, which failed utterly to stop the spread of Covid and hold down deaths, made us a laughing stock before the world community with its negligence in distributing vaccines too. The President's speech praising for effective control of the pandemic a government that stood idly by as people fell dead for want of oxygen is disappointing and deserves protest. It is a central government that was forced to correct its flawed vaccine policy as a result of the united intervention of non-BJP state governments, including Kerala, and the remarks of the courts, that now takes pride in India having become one of the countries that has given the most vaccines in the world. This meaningless propaganda found its way unchanged into the policy address. The address, which did not go into a single problem affecting the people, including the rise in petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices, also kept silent on the central policy of selling off the country's public assets. It is disappointing that the President's speech degenerated into a mere eulogy for a central government that devises policies and programmes only to help corporates even as the people are crushed by unemployment and hunger. The people will judge the policy address as one that does no justice at all to the realities of life.
