Central government invites bids to sell BEML

The central government has invited expressions of interest to sell Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), a central public sector undertaking with assets of Rs 56,000 crore, for Rs 720 crore.

The government is preparing to sell BEML shares after the share sales in government-owned companies such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, the Container Corporation of India, the Shipping Corporation of India and Air India. BEML is a Miniratna Category 1 public sector company under the Ministry of Defence.
