CITU to hold protest evenings on October 13 in support of the fighting farmers: CITU state secretariat

The agitation centred on the national capital, led by the joint farmers' movement 'Kisan Morcha', has gained strength over the past ten months. On the day of the Bharat Bandh called by the Kisan Morcha, the whole country, including Kerala, came to a standstill. Workers' organisations, agricultural workers and all political parties supported the bandh. The central government, which should take the initiative to settle the struggle, is instead trying to crush it and drown it in blood. Farmer Susheel Kajal, injured in police violence, became a martyr at Karnal in Haryana. On October 4, police deliberately beat and injured All India Kisan Sabha national finance secretary P Krishnaprasad while he was talking to the press in front of Uttar Pradesh Bhavan in Delhi. At Lakhimpur Kheri, the Union minister's son Ashish Mishra drove a vehicle over farmers and killed 9 of them. Demanding that the three draconian farm laws that harm farmers be withdrawn, that the 4 labour codes be reviewed in favour of workers, and that public sector privatisation and asset sales be abandoned, and in continuation of the Bharat Bandh, the CITU will hold "protest evening gatherings" at major junctions locally from 5 to 6 pm on October 13. The CITU state secretariat appealed to CITU's constituent unions to make the protest evening a success.
