Financial help for fishworkers welcome: Com. P P Chitharanjan MLA

CITU state secretary and Fishworkers Federation (CITU) state general secretary Com. P P Chitharanjan MLA said in a statement that he welcomes the state government's decision to give Rs 3,000 each to fishworkers and allied workers who could not go to sea to fish in October and November 2021 because of weather warnings.

This is the first time in the state's history that fishworkers have received such relief in these circumstances. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who sanctioned nearly Rs 48 crore for this, has proved once again his sincerity towards the fishing community. He also specially congratulated Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian and Finance Minister K N Balagopal, who played a leading role in securing this financial help for fishworkers despite the state's great financial difficulties.
