Joint committee appeals to workers to organise united agitations in sympathy with the farmers' struggle
Statement issued by the state joint committee of trade unions
Solidarity with the farmers' struggle
The state joint committee of trade unions salutes the farmers' agitation in Delhi demanding the withdrawal of the laws that ruin farmers and the abandonment of electricity privatisation. The three laws passed by Parliament sign over Indian agriculture to the monopolies. Minimum prices and procurement of agricultural produce will disappear, bringing misery to farmers.
It was to demand the withdrawal of these laws that farmers from states such as Punjab, Haryana and UP came out in struggle. Lakhs of farmers have gathered on the borders of Delhi. Ignoring the central government's repression, the farmers are determined not to withdraw from the struggle until their demands are accepted. The joint committee of trade unions supports the farmers' struggle, and workers are holding sympathy strikes. The joint committee appeals to workers in Kerala too to organise united agitations expressing sympathy with the farmers' struggle.
