Kerala's Covid-19 response puts the First World to shame: Jason Hickel
Kerala's Covid-19 response puts the First World to shame.
British economist.
Jason Hickel, an economic anthropologist at Goldsmiths, University of London, says the way Kerala handled the Covid-19 pandemic puts the First World (developed countries such as America and the countries of Europe) to shame. He said Kerala's Covid response has been humane, caring and successful. Only two people have died in Kerala, and new cases are falling. This has been achieved through widespread community testing. It happens because it is a social system that looks to human interests, not the interests of capital. Jason Hickel is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of the statistical panel of the Human Development Report 2020 and the author of books including The Divide.
