M Sukumaran award to KNR

The Chief Minister yesterday presented the M Sukumaran Foundation's award for the best public worker to K N Raveendranath, senior trade union leader

who has served as CITU state general secretary and president.

The award ceremony was held at Ayyankali Hall, Thiruvananthapuram, in the presence of CPI(M) Polit Bureau member M A Baby.

KNR, who was Ernakulam district secretary when the CITU was formed in 1970, is now a special invitee among the CITU state office-bearers.

He donated the Rs 50,000 he received with the award to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund.
