Private bill to implement a uniform civil code must not be allowed to be introduced in the Rajya Sabha

CPI(M) leader in the Rajya Sabha and CITU state general secretary Com. Elamaram Kareem MP has written to Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu asking that the private member's bill to implement a uniform civil code not be allowed to be introduced in the Rajya Sabha. The notice was given under Rule 67. BJP member Dr Kirodi Lal Meena is introducing the private member's bill to legislate for a committee to implement a uniform civil code in India. The introduction of the uniform civil code bill is listed first in today's Rajya Sabha business. On three earlier occasions when the same bill came up, Kirodi Lal Meena withdrew from introducing it after CPI(M) MPs gave notice.
