Private bus standstill must be avoided: CITU

Private buses in Kerala have stopped running since August 1. As a result about fifty thousand workers have lost their jobs, and ordinary people face travel hardship. The CITU state secretariat has demanded that the government intervene urgently to end this standstill.

When buses run following Covid norms they make losses, and there are few passengers in public transport. Even when income falls, buses must pay their taxes, and other costs do not fall. Bus operators face a serious crisis. Taking this problem into account, the government must take the initiative to hold talks with the operators and find a solution.
