Salute to KSEB Workers Association (CITU) comrades

Salute to the dear comrades who risked their own lives to save about eight families from a major disaster.

Swimming through heavy rain and roads that had turned into rivers, Jayan and Anilkumar, employees of the KSEB Kayamkulam East section, saved about eight families from a major disaster. In the heavy rain of the last few days, the Pamba river's flow grew strong and its tributary streams flooded. Water rushed up to window height on the roads around the streams and into the houses where about eight families live. Because these houses were connected to electricity, the electricity employees Jayan and Anilkumar swam through the flooded roads before daybreak to climb the electric posts and cut the supply. Staff who had arrived at night on orders received at the section office had turned back because of the head-high undergrowth and the heavy rain, but considering the seriousness of the problem, Jayan and Anilkumar set out early in the morning, forgetting their own lives, to cut off the power.

Jayan and Anilkumar, who saved people's lives in a time of disaster in spite of the hostile weather and raised the honour of the working class sky-high, are active members of the KSEB Workers Association (CITU).
